Access and Submit Production Task
Users with Editor or Publisher roles may receive tasks to perform and submit when they are completed. These tasks are often related to production; however, tasks may also be assigned for submissions that are still in the editorial workflow.
Note: Labels for menus and links may vary, depending on site configuration.
To access a task (and related information) assigned to you:
- Go to the Production Tasks Menu (this may be labelled Tasks Menu).
- Click Submission Tasks Assigned to Me. Several Action links may be available for each submission (depending on configurations and role permissions):
- View Assignment Letter: Opens the letter sent with your task assignment.
- Assignment Files: Allows you to view (or download) files that the task assignor has made available to you.
- Submit Task: Allows you to submit files and accompanying letter. See details below.
- History: Shows activity history for the submission.
To submit a task:
- Click the Submit Task link to open the Submit Task page.
- Enter text in the Letter Body field as needed.
- If including files, click Upload File to open a pop-up window.
- Select the Item from the drop-down list.
- Enter a description in the text box.
- Click Choose File OR use Drag & Drop to select a file from your local drive.
- Click Upload this File. (An uploaded file may be removed using the Remove link on the main Submit Task page.)
- If replacing files, see steps in the next section.
- When finished with all steps, click Submit Task.
Uploaded files appear in the Newly Uploaded Files section of the Submit Task page. Depending on task configuration, you may the the option to replace companion files that were provided with the assignment files. A Replace link will appear next to companion files in the Original Assignment Files section.
To replace a companion file:
- Click the Replace link to open the Upload Companion Files page.
- Select the file to upload:
- Click the Browse button to choose a file from your local drive OR
- Use the Drag & Drop feature to drag the file from your local drive.
- Provide information about the file as needed:
- Item: Use the drop-down menu to select an item type.
- Description: Use the text box to enter a description.
- Click Proceed (to return to the Submit Production Task page).
You may have permission to assign or reassign tasks. Depending on the configured workflow, you may be responsible for assigning a follow-on task after submitting your task. For details, see Assign or Reassign Production Task.
