An Editor may need to remove Reviewers from a submission after they have been invited or assigned to review it. Editors (with appropriate RoleManager permission) see a link next to each invited or assigned Reviewer's status on the Reviewer Selection Summary page. For Reviewers with "Agreed to Review" status (the Reviewer has been assigned or has accepted an invitation), an Unassign link appears. For Reviewers with "Reviewer Invited" status (the Reviewer has not yet accepted the invitation), an Uninvite link appears.
Clicking either link enables the Editor to send a custom letter or the default letter configured to inform the Reviewer of the cancellation of the review assignment/invitation.
The system may also be configured to uninvite/unassign Reviewers automatically if they have not responded to an invitation or submitted a review (by a defined period of time). See Configure Reviewer Parameters.
Editor roles must be granted permissions, and letters should be configured. On the Edit Role Definition page, go to the Reviewer Invitations section, check the box next to the permission and click Submit.
Go to PolicyManager > Email and Letter Policies > Edit Letters. Create letters to inform the Reviewer of the cancellation of the invitation (uninvite) and of the assignment (unassign). For details on letter configurations, see Create Letters.
Then go to ActionManager > Reviewer Letters (select the applicable Reviewer role). Go to the Reviewer Assigned section.
