Assign System Administrator Rights
After a site is created, the publication staff are responsible for most configuration changes: adding Article Types, modifying Questionnaires, adding Review Forms, etc. These configurations are made by an Editor Role with System Administration Functions permission.
Editors with this permission can access a system administration area via a link in the Administrative Functions section of the Editor Main Menu or via the main navigation: Shortcuts > Quick Access > System Administrator Functions.
Restricted system administrator access
Publications may opt to allow certain Editors access to only a subset of System Administrator functionality. This restricted access is configured as either complete access or no access to the different areas of administration, RoleManager, ActionManager, and AdminManager.
PolicyManager access can be granted by individual features.
All Editor roles with restricted access rights share the same restrictions.
Important: At least one Editor Role must have unrestricted System Administration Functions permission.
TO CONFIGURE:
Go to RoleManager > Editor Role. Grant permissions to the applicable Editor roles:
- System Administrative Functions: Check this box to allow users with this role to access the system administration section of the EM site.
- Unrestricted Access: Radio button setting allows access to all areas of system administration.
- Restricted Access: Radio button setting allows access only to areas as defined in AdminManager (below).
To configure access restrictions, go to AdminManager > Configure Restricted System Administration Access Rights. Check the box next to any features the restricted Editor roles shall have access to (any features that are not selected will not be available to users with restricted rights).
- ALL OF ROLEMANAGER: Check this box to allow the system administrator to configure Roles. Two sub-settings may be available to enable an additional level of capability:
- Configure Proxy for Users Who Have Never Logged In: This setting allows the system administrator to change the related Proxy Power setting when defining Editor roles. (If this setting is not checked, the system administrator may not change the existing setting.)
- Assign Publication Groups to Editor Roles: For use with Cross-Publication Enterprise Analytics Reporting.
- ALL OF ACTIONMANAGER: Check this box to allow the system administrator to configure settings in ActionManager.
- ALL OF ADMINMANAGER: Check this box to allow the system administrator to configure settings in AdminManager. A sub-setting may be available to enable an additional level of capability:
- Manage Publication Groups: For use with Cross-Publication Enterprise Analytics Reporting.
- ALL OF POLICYMANAGER: Check this box to allow the system administrator to configure all settings in PolicyManager. This automatically checks all boxes for the individual settings listed below it. To allow the system administrator to configure only selected areas in PolicyManager, check individual settings.
