A publication may enable Editors to provide supplemental materials to Reviewers for use when reviewing a submission. Additionally, Reviewers may be allowed to upload files as part of a review. These files could be images, related materials, or an annotated manuscript. (This feature may or may not be available, depending on publication configuration.)
If any files have been attached as part of the review process, a View Attachments link appears in the Action column for the submission. The link does not appear if there are no attached files available.
When an Editor uploads an attachment as a supplemental item for a Reviewer, you can access the item by clicking the View Attachments link. The link opens a page listing all attached files. Click the Download link next to the file you want to view.
In addition, the Reviewer invitation email may contain a clickable deep link that goes directly to the Attachments page. (The deep link will expire, according to the publication's policy, after a default number of clicks and/or a default number of days.)
If the publication allows Reviewers to upload files as part of a review, you will see an Upload Reviewer Attachments button on the Reviewer Recommendation and Comments page.
To upload a file:
Uploaded files appear in a list on the Upload Reviewer Attachments page. Use the Download link to download the file to your computer. Use the Remove link to delete the file from the attachments list. (Items cannot be removed after the review has been submitted.)
After submitting the review you may see any files you uploaded using the View Attachments link for the submission. The publication may also allow you to see files uploaded by other Reviewers of the submission.
When a Reviewer uploads a file as part of a review, the Editor determines whether or not to make it available to the Author. The Editor may also choose to make it available to the submission's other Reviewers.
If another Reviewer's file has been made available, you may access it using the View Attachments link.
