Author Tasks

The publication office may ask an Author to perform production-related tasks as a submission moves toward publication. A task assignment letter will notify the Author of the assignment. The email may include a deep link to enable the Author to go directly to the task.

To access a task:

To submit a task:

  1. Click the Submit Task link to open the Submit Task page.
  2. Enter text in the Letter Body field as needed.
  3. If including files, click Upload File to open a pop-up window.
    1. Select the Item from the drop-down list.
    2. Enter a description in the text box.
    3. Click Choose File OR use Drag & Drop to select a file from your local drive.
    4. Click Upload this File. (An uploaded file may be removed, using the Remove link on the main Submit Task page.)
  4. If replacing files, see steps in the next section.
  5. When finished with all steps, click Submit Task.

Uploaded files appear in the Newly Uploaded Files section of the Submit Task page. Depending on task configuration, you may the the option to replace companion files that were provided with the assignment files. A Replace link will appear next to companion files in the Original Assignment Files section.

To replace a companion file:

  1. Click the Replace link to open the Upload Companion Files page.
  2. Select the file to upload:
    • Click the Browse button to choose a file from your local drive OR
    • Use the Drag & Drop feature to drag the file from your local drive.
  3. Provide information about the file as needed:
    1. Item: Use the drop-down menu to select an item type.
    2. Description: Use the text box to enter a description.
  4. Click Proceed (to return to the Submit Production Task page).
