Configure Open Peer Review

Some publications use an open peer review workflow, allowing Authors and/or other Reviewers access to Reviewer names and review information.

Reviewer access

When Reviewers are granted permission for open peer review, a Reviewer can see the names and degrees of all Reviewers and has access to all previous reviews of the submission (including completed reviews of the current revision). The Reviewer may also access any Reviewer attachments made available to other Reviewers and the submission's Decision letter. This information is available to the Reviewer immediately after an invitation to review.

The information is available to the Reviewer via links in the following locations (depending on publication configuration):

Author access

When Authors are granted permission for open peer review, a link, View Reviewer Comments, appears in the following Author folders:

The link may be made available to Authors either after the first decision or after the final decision on the submission.

In addition, each element of the review form may be individually set to be available (or kept hidden). When made available, custom review questions, manuscript rating questions, and overall manuscript rating can be accessed by the Author from the View Reviewer Comments page, using the Reviewer Decision Term link.

If Reviewer attachments have been set to be available and Authors have permission to view Reviewer names, the View Attachments page displays the Reviewers' names.
