Configure checkCIF

Submissions may include files with the extension .cif (Crystallographic Information Format). These files may be sent to a checkCIF tool integrated into Editorial Manager. The tool is hosted by the IUCr (International Union of Crystallography), and the .cif files are sent via API. The checkCIF tool reports on the consistency and integrity of crystal structure determinations contained in the file.

Users with permission will see a checkCIF Results link for a submission includes files that were sent to the checkCIF tool. The link opens a pop-up window that displays the status of checkCIF testing and returned results. A Completed link enables the user to download the results PDF.

Users with Editor or Publisher roles may also have permission to send files manually to checkCIF from the list of submission files and companion files on the pop-up window.

For more information, see the video on checkCIF.
