Corresponding Editor Designation

The Corresponding Editor for a submission is the designated contact person for email correspondence related to the submission. Only one Editor can serve as Corresponding Editor at any given time. By default the first Editor assigned to a submission becomes the Corresponding Editor.

The designation can be configured to follow the Handling Editor workflow, so that the Corresponding Editor designation changes automatically when responsibility for the submission changes. The Editor currently responsible for the submission, i.e., the Handling Editor, is also the designated Corresponding Editor.

When a revision is submitted, the Corresponding Editor designation is by default the Corresponding Editor of the submission's previous version.

Note: If the Corresponding Editor is deactivated (either the individual's People record or Editor role is removed) while a submission is out for revision, then the revision does not have a designated Corresponding Editor until it is manually set on the Details page.

Users with permission may change the Corresponding Editor designation manually on the submission's Details page or on the Notify Author page (if the field is configured to display). If the submission moves to a new Handling Editor after a manual change is made, the manual change is overridden in favor of the new Handling Editor.

To change the Corresponding Editor designation (on Details page or Notify Author page):

  1. Use the Corresponding Editor drop-down list to select an Editor in the submission's Editor chain.
  2. Click Save.

Corresponding Production Editor

Only one user can serve as Corresponding Production Editor at any given time.

Users with permission may change the Corresponding Production Editor designation manually on the submission's Production Details page (if the field is configured to display).

To change the Corresponding Production Editor designation (on Details page):
