Date and Time Displays

The standard time for date/time storage throughout the system is US Eastern time. This means that for every EM/PM user, the calendar rolls over from one calendar day to the next at midnight US Eastern. This does not match the local time zone and calendar for many users.

Time display

Publications can configure their site to display the user's own current local time and date next to the current time and date for the EM Site (US Eastern time). Displaying the two times in this way makes it clearer that the site may be working in a different time zone than the user. It also helps explain any possible date discrepancies across time zones. The time/date appears in 24-hour clock format followed by month and day.

The site time displays as a link. Clicking the link opens a Time Zone Information pop-up window, which displays the site time, the time reported by the user's browser (when available), and the difference between the two times (when the user's time is available).

Date format

Dates are displayed in all folders in EM. While all dates reflect US Eastern time, the format of the display can be configured for each publication.

Note: When a calendar date field is available for data entry, users must enter the date in the mm/dd/yyyy format regardless of the configured display option. Users should use the calendar icon to select the desired date to ensure proper formatting.
