Edit DOIs
Three types of Digital Object Identiers (DOIs) can be assigned in EM/PM:
- Submission DOI: Assigned to the submission as a while. May be assigned by the system or manually entered.
- Submission Item DOI: Assigned to an individual Submission Item, for example, a figure or other supplementary material provided as a separate file during the submission process. Automatically assigned by the system, based on the automatically assigned Submission DOI.
- Preprint DOI: Assigned to the preprint version of a submission. Automatically assigned by the system. Independent of the DOI assigned to the final published version of the submission.
Editor roles may be granted permission to edit DOIs that were automatically assigned by the system.
To edit a Submission DOI
The Submission DOI field appears on the Publish Information page and on the transmittal form. This DOI field may also be configured to appear on a custom Details page layout (either Editorial or Production Details).
- Open one of the pages where the field appears.
- Edit the text in the DOI field.
- Click the button to save changes. (Name of button depends on page: Save/Save Changes/Submit.)
To edit a Submission Item DOI
A Submission Item DOI column appears on the File Inventory page. If a file has been assigned a Submission Item DOI, the DOI will appear in the column for that file.
- Open the File Inventory page.
- Click the Edit Data link next to the applicable file. This opens the Edit Data pop-up window.
- Edit the text in the Submission Item DOI field.
- Click the Save Changes button.
To edit a Preprint DOI
The Preprint DOI field appears on the Publish Information page. This DOI field may also be configured to appear on a custom Details page layout (Editorial, Production, or Proposal), the production status grid, and the Transmittal Form page.
- Open one of the pages where the field appears.
- Edit the text in the Preprint DOI field.
- Click the button to save changes. (Name of button depends on page: Save/Save Changes/Submit.)
