Editor Access to Reviewer PDF

Authorized Editors may view the Reviewer version of a submission PDF to make sure all intended items are displayed and that the submission is anonymized appropriately.

Additionally, some Editors may also view the Reviewer version of the PDF after the submission has been edited, again to ensure that appropriate items are included or excluded.

Clicking the View Submission action link (accessible in multiple Editor folders) provides access to both Author and Reviewer versions of the submission PDF files in the pop-up window.

Note: When an Editor downloads the Reviewer PDF, Editorial Manager appends "_reviewer" to the file name to differentiate it from a downloaded version of the Author/Editor version of the PDF.

TO CONFIGURE:

Go to RoleManager > Editor Role. Grant permissions to the applicable Editor roles:

  1. View Reviewer PDF: Allows Editors to choose to view the Reviewer PDF in addition to the Author/Editor PDF when accessing the submission from a View Submission link.
  2. Edit Submission Before Decision: Allows Editors to edit a submission under review. This permission can be modified with the following sub-permissions.
    1. View Reviewer PDF after Edit Submission: Allows Editors to access the current revision of the Reviewer PDF via a link in the Submissions Requiring Approval by Editor folder.
      1. Require View Reviewer PDF after Edit Submission: A sub-permission of the one just above. Requires the Editor to view the Reviewer PDF before approving the submission.
