Editors with permission may proxy register new users. This enables an Editor to create a registration for another user, such as a Reviewer who is going to be invited to review a submission.
An Editor may proxy register a new user from three places in the Editor interface:
Register New User: This link in the Administrative Functions section of the Editor Main Menu enables the Editor to proxy register a user at any time.
Register and Invite New Reviewer: This link enables the Editor to proxy register and then invite the new user to serve as a Reviewer for a submission. The link appears on the Reviewer Selection Summary page and Reviewer search pages.
Register and Invite New Author: This link enables the Editor to proxy register and then invite the new user to server as Author for an invited submission (via Solicit Commentary or Initiate Proposal process).
To register a new user:
After an Editor proxy registers a new user to invite as either Reviewer or Author, the new user's name appears in the candidate list and may be selected.
The proxy-registered user is notified of the registration via email and must confirm registration, verify contact information, and create a password.
Note: Depending on publication configuration, proxy registration of individuals who previously requested anonymization of their personal data may be prohibited.
