A user may have permission only to turn on flags (once set, the checkbox is read-only) or only to turn off flags (checkbox is not displayed for flags that have not been set). Users with both permissions may both select and deselect the checkbox setting.

Note: The flag feature requires that a user's browser have an installed font that includes Unicode characters (Arial Unicode MS). Most Windows and Macintosh machines have this font installed. Without this font some of the flag characters will appear as square boxes.

Incoming transferred submission flags

If this feature is enabled, two flags may be displayed to call attention to incoming transferred submissions received from another EM publication:

Editor and Publisher roles with permission to view submission flags see these flags next to the Details link in folders on the Main Menu tab. In addition, users with search permission may also use these flag names as search criteria via Search Submissions.

Note: These flags are set automatically. Users cannot activate, edit, or manually assign the flags. These flags are not recorded in Submission Flag History.
