Hide Submission from Other Editor (Blocking)

At times an Editor may find it necessary to hide a submission from another Editor (this is also known as blocking). For example, if the submission is authored or co-authored by another Editor at the publication, that Editor should not have access to information about the submission as it moves through peer review.

An Editor (with permission) can select which Editors are blocked for a submission. This can be done at the time the submission is assigned to an Editor, or at any time from the submission's Details page (if link is configured to display).

To hide a submission from an Editor:

  1. On either the Assign Editor page or the submission's Details page, click the Block Editors link to open a pop-up window. The selection option depends on publication configuration:
    • Select Editor list: The page displays a list of all Editors with roles that may handle assignments. Use the radio button to select an Editor.
    • Editor Search option: Perform a search and then use the check box to select an Editor from the results list. (This option is useful for publications with many Editors.)
  2. Check the box next to the name of the Editor to block.
  3. Click Submit.

The names of any Editors who have been blocked to a submission appear on the Details page.
