Editors may sometimes rescind (retract) a decision on a submission, even after the Author has been notified of the decision.
At the time the Author is originally notified of an editorial decision, the submission moves to the Author's Submissions with a Decision folder. Once the decision is rescinded, the submission moves out of the Submissions with a Decision folder and back to the folder it was in prior to the decision (either Submissions Being Processed or Revisions Being Processed).
A manuscript may also be in the Author's Submissions Needing Revision folder (i.e., the editorial decision was Revise, and the Author has not yet submitted the revision) when the Editor rescinds the decision. In this case the submission moves out of the Submissions Needing Revision folder and back to the Submissions Being Processed or Revisions Being Processed folder, as appropriate.
Note: If the Author has started submitting the revision (i.e., manuscript is in the Incomplete Submissions Being Revised or Revisions Waiting for Author's Approval folders), the Editor is not allowed to rescind his Decision.
