Select from Previous Reviewers (Reviewer Search)

The Select from Previous Reviewers option is available only for revised submissions. This option facilitates reassignment of the same Reviewer(s) from the previous revision to a new revision of a manuscript. The tool does not automatically assign those Reviewers.

Select Suggest Reviewers as the search type.
Take action to display full results. A list of previous Reviewers appears separately above the grid for quick reference.
- In classic page view: Click Go.
- In new page view: Click Select From Previous Reviewers.

The Reviewers displayed in the candidates grid are those who completed reviews for the previous version only. For example, an Editor searching for Reviewers for revisiontwo (R2) of a submission will see the Reviewers who completed reviews for revision one (R1) in the Reviewer Candidates grid. The grid will not include Reviewers of the original submission (R0).

Results displayed from other search options also identify Reviewers of previous versions. Text below a Reviewer name indicates: "This person reviewed the previous version as Reviewer [anonymous Reviewer number]."

Comments submitted by previous Reviewers can be included in invitation or assignment letters for current revision. For details, see Send completed Reviewer comments in Reviewer invitations.

Note: If the Respond to Reviewers submission step is enabled for Authors, Editors have access to Author's responses to Reviewers on the View Reviews and Comments page (and on the Submit Editor's Decision and Comments page). This information may be useful to Editors when deciding if a submission should be sent back to previously assigned Reviewers.
