Communications to Authors can be sent through an API to an Author Portal (AP) or Manuscript Service Provider (MSP). This allows an AP/MSP site to display letters generated by EM/PM to the Authors (both Corresponding Authors and Co-authors). In addition, the AP/MSP can take the information from the EM-generated letter, add their own information, and email it on to the Author. This enables the Author to manage all submission-related communications through the AP/MSP platform. (EM does not send the Author/co-author a separate email in this case; the letter is sent only through the API.)
This feature applies only to submissions that originated from an AP/MSP. The following submission-related letters are eligible for sending via the API:
Merge fields populate in these letters as they do in email letters. Attachments are pushed via the API for letters configured to include attachments.
Each Author Portal or MSP site must be configured with one or more valid API Endpoint URLs, which allow EM to interact with the service. Contact your Aries Account Coordinator.
To configure the settings for AP/MSPs, go to AdminManager > Configure Manuscript Service Providers for Ingest Service. For each applicable AP/MSP, check the box next to the Author-related setting(s) desired. When finished, click Submit.
