Set "Email From" Address

All email messages generated by the EM system require an email address to identify the sender of the message. The "From" field can be customized to also display the name of the publication.

Emails are actually sent from an EM system address (with domain name editorialmanager.com). This is required to connect system email correspondence to submissions, tasks, etc. Publication-specific name and email address allow recipients to more easily identify the publication that sent the email. The publication name will appear in the message preview list of the recipient's email application (e.g., MS Outlook).

The system email and publication-specific name/address are displayed on the email in the following format:

"[EM system address] on behalf of The Journal <em@editorialmanager.com>"

When the recipient replies to the email, the publication-configured email address is displayed in the "Reply To" field (e.g., editorialoffice@thejournal.org). This ensures that the response is directed correctly and allows the recipient to see that.

For some types of correspondence, the Corresponding Editor email address can be used as the "From address. For details, see Configure Corresponding Editor Designation.

Additional use

An email address configured on this page is also used in the body of the email notification sent when a user's email address has been changed; the notification is sent to the user's original address. This allows a user to contact the publication office if the change was not made by the account holder.

TO CONFIGURE:

Go to PolicyManager > Email and Letter Policies > Set "Email From" Address.

Your site may show more than one email address field on this page, depending on site configuration. Enter email addresses as needed for editorial, production, and fee functionality:

Editorial "Email From" Address: Used on emails related to editorial workflows sent from the publication site. This is also the default address used in the email notification for user-account email address change.

Production "Email From" Address: Used on emails related to production tracking workflows sent from the publication site. For production-only sites, this address is used in the email notification for user-account email address change if no Editorial email address is configured on this page.

Waiver "Email From" Address: Used on emails related to waiver requests sent from the publication site.

Enter name and email address in the text box. The name should appear in quotation marks (" "), and the email address should appear in angle brackets (< >). Example: "Publication Name" <editorialoffice@publication.com>
When finished, click Submit.

Note: It is not required to include publication name in the configuration; however, it is strongly recommended.
