Suppress New (Unsolicited) Submissions

Publications that allow Authors to submit only invited manuscripts can configure the Author user interface to hide the option to submit unsolicited manuscripts.

When this setting is enabled, the Submit New Manuscript link is not displayed on the Author Main Menu, and the Submit a Manuscript link in the main navigation does not launch the submission process.

The Author Main Menu displays folders related to invited submissions. The menu also displays production-related folders on publications that use ProduXion Manager.

Closed to submissions

To close all submissions, publications may use a variant setting of this feature, suppressing the submission links without enabling invited-submission functions. This may be useful if the publication uses a defined submission/reading term and is, at other times, closed to submissions.

TO CONFIGURE:

Go to RoleManager > Author Role. Grant permissions:

Hide Manuscript Submission Interface: Checking this setting prevents Authors from submitting both new and revised manuscripts.
1. Display Invited Manuscript Folders: Checking this sub-permission allows Authors to access the folders listed above.

Note: If the sub-permission is not checked, Authors on publications using Editorial Manager see a blank main menu. Production-related folders continue to appear on publications using ProduXion Manager.
