View "Other Author" Information

Editor roles with permission have access to an Author Status link on the Details page and on the Technical Check page (if enabled). This link opens a pop-up window that displays information about the submission's Corresponding Author and additional Authors.

Changes to Author list

A Corresponding Author (or Editor) may make changes to a submission's list of authors. A yellow triangle icon is displayed by the system to alert Editors when the author list of the current revision differs from that of the previous version of the submission.

This yellow alert triangle appears next to the submission’s Details link in various folders. The alert icon also appears next to the Author Status link on the Details page and on the Technical Check page (if enabled). This link opens a pop-up window that displays information about the submission's Corresponding Author and additional Authors.

The alert icon appears if:

Order of the Authors changes
Corresponding Author changes
Co-author is added or removed (directly or via proxy)
Contributor role is added or removed (for publications using CRediT Taxonomy)

The alert icon also appears next to the Details action link in the Editor folders to prompt the Editor to view the Details page to access the Author Details.

To view changes:

Click the Author Status link to open the Author Details page.

Red text next to an Author name indicates the kind of change that was made between the previous version of the submission and the current revision.

The Other Author Status grid displays data for Co-authors included for the current revision. An Options column displays links to Resend Letter (for co-authorship confirmation) or to View Author Details.

The Removed Authors section displays information about Authors that have been removed from the submission.

Note: If individual fields in an existing Author's record are changed (e.g., updated email address), the alert icon does not appear.

Co-authors required to verify or register and verify

If Co-authors are required to verify their co-authorship and register on the publication site, the information in the Author Status pop-up window includes the status of co-authorship confirmation and responses to questionnaire.

Links enable Editors with permission to manage other Authors to take action related to each Co-author's verification status:

Request Confirmation: Sends register/verify request letter. (Appears only if letter not previously sent.)
Reset Confirmation Status: Resets the confirmation to "No Response." May be used if Co-author mistakenly clicked the wrong response deep link.
Resend Letter: Sends a letter to this recipient only. This provides the recipient with the deep links required to register and verify (or decline). Recipient may also change responses to questionnaire. (Appears if recipient has not responded or if confirmation status was reset.)
View Author Details: Opens a pop-up window that displays contact information on record for the Author.
View Questionnaire Responses: Displays any responses to questions presented to the Author.
Edit: Edit the Co-author's email address.

Editors with permission to change the status of a Co-author's verification may see a Change link under the verification status in the Confirmed? column.

To change verification status in the Other Author Status grid:

Click the Change link. (This opens a pop-up window.)
Use the radio button to select the appropriate status: Yes/Confirmed or Declined.
Click Save. (This closes the pop-up window.)

View Author questionnaire summary

Editors with permission to manage other Authors may also see an Author Questionnaire Summary link on the submission's Details page.

Click the link to open the Author Questionnaire Summary page.

The page lists responses from all Authors (Corresponding and Co-authors) who have answered an Author Questionnaire. Questions are displayed in a grid containing all questions and associated responses for each Author. If a question was not presented to a particular Author, the response area is blank and shaded dark gray.
