Allow Editors to Reopen Reviews

An Editor (with appropriate RoleManager permission) may need to reopen, or send back, a review to a Reviewer. The Editor might request that the Reviewer edit the review, provide additional information, etc. This can be done by the Editor currently assigned to the submission or by the Special Relationship Editor. Reviews cannot be reopened if the current Editor has started and saved a decision.

For Editor use information, see Reopen Reviews.

When a Review is reopened, the statistics for the Reviewer are updated; however, the due date is not updated. The Editor (with permission) may change the Reviewer due date from the submission's Details page. See Configure Reviewer Parameters.

When a Review is reopened, if the number of completed reviews falls below the number of required reviews for the submission, it moves back to the folder, Submissions Requiring Additional Reviewers.

For related information, see Allow Editors to Modify Existing Reviews.

To Configure:

Go to RoleManager > Editor Role. Grant permissions to the applicable Editor roles:

Go to PolicyManager > Email and Letter Policies > Edit Letters. Create or select a letter in the Reviewer Invitation family.

Then go to ActionManager > Reviewer Letters (select the applicable Reviewer role). Go to the Reviewer Assigned section. Next to the event, Reopen Review, choose the letter configured above from the drop-down list. When finished, click Submit. (An Editor letter for this event may be sent to the Special Relationship Editor.)

For details on letter configurations, see Create Letters.
