Configure Option to Hide Submission from Other Editor
At times an Editor may find it necessary to hide a submission from another Editor (this is also known as blocking). For example, if the submission is authored or co-authored by another Editor at the publication, that Editor should not have access to information about the submission as it moves through peer review.
For Editor use information, see Hide Submission from Other Editor (Blocking)
An Editor (with permission) can select which Editors to block. This can be done at the time the submission is assigned to an Editor (from the Assign Editor page), or at any time from the submission's Details page (if the link is configured to display).
Blocking an Editor to a submission does the following:
- Suppresses the submission from all Editor folders displayed for that Editor.
- Suppresses the submission from appearing on a People Information page when the page is called up by that Editor.
- Suppresses the submission from appearing on any reports that have Send Reminders functionality, such as: Author Reports (Author Revision Status, Author Revision Reminder); Reviewer Reports (Reviewers Invited – No Response, Reviewer Reminder); Editor Reports (New Assignments, Required Reviews Complete Report).
- Suppresses the submission from appearing in search results for that Editor (even if the Editor has Search All Manuscripts permission).
Limitations:
- A blocked Editor has visibility to the submission from General Data Export or Custom Reports features.
- A blocked Editor with proxy permissions has visibility to the submission if the person for whom the Editor is proxying has permission to see the submission.
To Configure:
Go to RoleManager > Editor Role. Grant permission to applicable Editor roles:
- Block Editor: Allows a user to hide a submission from another Editor.
A link to the Blocked Editors page may be included on custom Details pages. See Configure Details Page.
