Personal identifiers provide authors with a unique, centrally registered identifier code. Five personal identifier fields are available to display on the Registration page, Update People Information page, and Expedited Reviewer Login page. Additionally, these personal identifiers can be included on the transmittal form as Author and Co-Author metadata.
Publications may choose any or all of these identifiers to display at the bottom of the Personal Information section of the Registration and Update My Information pages and/or on the Expedited Reviewer Login page. Custom instructions for users (e.g., where individuals can register for the identifiers) can also be configured. Personal identifier fields can be shown as optional or required; when required, the label appears in red text with an asterisk (*).
When these fields are enabled, the system checks entered data against existing IDs in People records to ensure against duplicate entries.
Using ORCID identifiers provides additional options. See: ORCID.
