Customize Login Page

The appearance and content of the publication's login page can be customized in a number of ways:

The Account Finder page (accessed when a user clicks the Send Login Details link) can also feature custom colors, text, and links to documents/resources.

For publications participating in inter-journal resource sharing (IJRS, i.e.,publications that share People information), users can choose to log in to a particular publication in the group.

Single sign-on authentication option

Publication sites may use their organization’s single sign-on (SSO) authentication as an alternative to the standard EM login. When an SSO is enabled for a site, the standard Login page is not presented to users. For details, see Configure Single Sign-On Authentication with OpenID Connect.

Go to PolicyManager > Registration and Login Policies > Configure Login Page.

Appearance options: If you want to experiment with different colors and HTML, it is strongly suggested that you test changes in a separate HTML editing tool (e.g., Dreamweaver) and preview the page in several different browsers to ensure it displays properly on all platforms. Once you are satisfied with the page's appearance, then apply it to your EM site.

Both header and footer text can include links to files. These files must be stored on the system. Action links to upload the files and create the links appear above the text box in both the Login Header Text and Login Footer text sections.

Follow these steps to upload a file and add a reference link to it in header or footer text:

  1. First, click the Manage File for Login Page link to open a pop-up window.
  2. Enter a Description (this is the text that appears as the hyperlink).
  3. Click the Choose File button to locate the file.
  4. Click the Upload this File button. When the window refreshes, the file appears in the of uploaded files list. (Links next to each item in the list allow you to download, edit/replace, or remove the file.)
  5. After all files are uploaded, close the pop-up window.
  6. Then, click the Insert File Reference link to open a new pop-up window. The window shows a drop-down list of all the uploaded files.
  7. Choose the applicable file and click the Insert File Reference button. This creates an HTML reference link in the text box on the Configure Login page. (If no files have been uploaded, a message to that effect appears in the pop-up window.)

Username and password messaging options: Default instructions for both fields are included. If messaging is edited, the original defaults can be restored by clicking the Revert to Default Instructions link.

When all fields are complete, click Submit.
