A submission workflow is a named subset of a publication's defined submission production or editorial tasks. Workflows can be defined for production tasks (using production tracking) or for editorial tasks (using Task Manager).
A publication's master workflow is named All Submission Production Tasks. This standard workflow contains all non-hidden tasks configured for the publication. This workflow cannot be removed, but it can be copied to create new workflows that can be modified. It also serves the default workflow for the publication. (If a publication site uses both ProduXion Manager and Task Manager, both production and editorial tasks will appear in the master workflow.)
Workflows are a useful way to organize tasks. A custom workflow may be defined using a subset of tasks from the standard workflow, because not all tasks may be needed for a particular Article Type. Workflows can be associated with Article Types, so that only the tasks in the associated workflow are available for assignment for submissions of a particular Article Type. When an Article Type is not configured with an associated custom workflow, the standard workflow is associated by default.
A workflow can be associated with multiple Article Types. An Article Type can be associated with only one production task workflow and one editorial task workflow. For publication sites using both features, an Article Type can accommodate both a production task workflow and an editorial task workflow.
Tasks must created before assigning them to workflows. See Configure Submission Production Tasks or Editorial Tasks.
Go to PolicyManager > ProduXion Manager > Configure Submission Workflows and Production Tasks.
The standard workflow, All Submission Production Tasks, or any previously created custom workflow may be copied to build a new workflow.
Custom workflows may be removed if they have not been used for a submission of any associated Article Type. Click the Remove link next to the workflow name on the Configure Submission Workflows and Tasks page.
Associate the workflow with one or more Article Types. Go to PolicyManager > Submission Policies > Edit Article Types.
