When an Author is invited to contribute a commentary on an existing submission, invitation-related notes may be entered by the inviting Editor at the time of Author invitation.
Additional Manuscript Detail fields may also be configured to display for Invited Submissions. When configured in this way, Editors may enter information in these fields (through the Details page) on a "parent" submission (the submission on which a commentary is being solicited). When the Editor has provided information in these Additional Manuscript Detail fields, the Invited Author(s) will be able to view this information.
When either Invitation Notes or Additional Manuscript Details are provided for the invited Author, the Author will see a link, View Invitation Information, in the My New Invitations folder (on the Author Main Menu). This link also appears in these other Author folders: My Accepted Invitations, Incomplete Submissions, and Submissions Waiting for Author's Approval. Clicking the link opens a pop-up window where the related Invitation Notes and/or Additional Manuscript Details are displayed.
Invitation notes may be included in the Author invitation letter by using the merge field, %INVITATION_NOTES_TO_AUTHOR%.
Editors also have access to view any Author Invitation Notes in the following locations:
