Editors with permission to handle or view commentaries or proposals have access to the Proposal Menu tab.
Links are arranged in sections in the center of the page or in the left sidebar. Sections in the center menu may be set as expanded or collapsed and will retain the chosen state. These sections may include:
Links in this section provide access to functionality to create and edit new proposals (ones for which Authors have not been invited).
Initiate Proposal opens the Initiate Proposal interface.
Incomplete Proposals contains PDF-build failures and proposals that the user started but did not finish (by building the PDF). This folder is suppressed if there are no proposals in it.
Proposals Needing Approval contains proposals for which the user has requested a PDF build but has not taken further action. The PDF may be in the process of building or may have been built but not yet approved by the user. This folder is suppressed if there are no proposals in it.
Links in this section provide access to proposals that require attention by an Editor.
New Proposals Requiring Assignment contains proposals that have not been assigned to an Editor. A proposal must be assigned to an Editor to invite Authors.
New Invitations – Proposals contains proposals the user has been invited to manage. The user must accept or decline the invitation. Accepting moves the proposal to the New Assignments – Proposals folder. Declining moves the proposal back to the New Proposals Requiring Assignment folder.
New Assignments – Proposals contains proposals for which the user has accepted the invitation and proposals that have been directly assigned to the user. Proposals in this folder require one of the following: assign another Editor or invite Author.
My Pending Proposals contains proposals assigned to the user for which one or more Authors have been invited. Proposals in this folder might require one of the following: view status of invited Authors or invite additional Authors; allow current Authors to complete their work; set final disposition.
View All Assigned Proposals contains all proposals that are assigned to Editors.
My Submissions With Pending Commentaries contains submissions that have been assigned to the user for which commentaries have been solicited.
View All Submissions With Pending Commentaries contains all submissions for which commentaries have been solicited.
The subheading Proposals With Invitations In Progress displays the total number of unique submissions contained in folders in this section. This total is not a sum of the counts from the folders, because a single proposal may be listed in more than one folder. These folders allow Editors quick access to proposals that meet specific criteria:
Proposals With Outstanding Invitations contains all open proposals for which at least one Author has yet to respond to the invitation.
Proposals With Invited Submissions In Progress contains all open proposals for which at least one Author accepted the invitation but has not yet submitted.
Proposals With Invited Submissions Received contains all open proposals for which at least one Author has submitted the invited paper.
Links in this section provide access to completed work.
My Completed Proposals contains the user's assigned proposals with a final disposition of "Completed Proposal."
My Submissions with No Pending Commentaries contains the user's assigned submissions for which solicited commentaries have been submitted (or cancelled) and which have been moved to the folder as complete.
View All Completed Proposals contains all proposals with a final disposition of "Completed Proposal."
View All Submissions with No Pending Commentaries contains all submissions for which solicited commentaries have been submitted (or cancelled) and which have been moved to the folder as complete.
Links in this section provide access to the Search Submissions and Search People functions. (Editor role must have corresponding RoleManager search permissions.) For information about searching, see Search Functions.

This section displays for Editors with permission to produce reports.
Proposal Pipeline Report allows the user to run reports for all Author invitations and invited submissions associated with a proposal. See Proposal Pipeline Report.
Authors Invited – No Response allows the user to run reports on Authors who have neither accepted nor declined an invitation. Reminders can be generated from the results page.
Author Invitation Status Report allows the user to run reports on Authors who have accepted an invitation but have not yet submitted.
Automated Author Invitation Reminder Report allows Editors (with the corresponding permission) to schedule reminder letters to be sent to Authors related to submission invitations.
