Impact Vizor, a HighWire Press visual analytics tool, brings together citation and usage data from multiple sources and consolidates the data into configurable reports. One feature of Impact Vizor is the Rejected Article Tracker (RAT), which provides insight into rejected journal articles, including where they are eventually published and their citation rates. A similar feature is the Hot Article Tracker (HAT), which tracks citation data on published articles. For more information, see the Impact Vizor web page.
For a demonstration, watch this video on Impact Vizor reports.
A single-journal view, called Impact Vizor Final Decisions View, can provide data on rejected articles in the format required by the RAT. This view can be used in both Custom Reports and Enterprise Analytics Reports. The view displays all the information required by HighWire with field names that correspond to HighWire terminology.
The view is not limited to displaying only submissions that have received a reject decision. (This is to ensure that the view can be used for other reports Impact Vizor may develop in the future.) Publications can use this view to create EAR reports that are filtered to display only the papers required for the Impact Vizor RAT report.
The Impact Vizor Final Decisions View appears in the dropdown menu for creating a new report through both the Custom Report and Enterprise Analytics Reporting tools. After the user has run the report, the data can be downloaded into an Excel file and saved as a tab-delimited file to send to HighWire.
Two Impact Vizor reports (built using the Final Decisions View) are among the standard reports available in Enterprise Analytics Reporting (EAR): Impact Vizor – Published Article Export and Impact Vizor – Rejected Article Export. These two reports can be configured to send to the Impact Vizor tool on a set schedule.
For information on using EAR reporting tools, see Enterprise Analytics Reporting.
The Cross-Publication Impact Vizor Final Decisions View enables publishers to transmit reports for all their publications in a single file. Like the single-journal view, this report displays the data and column headings required for corresponding with HighWire.
Once the report is run, the user must download the data into an Excel file and manipulate it prior to sending the tab-delimited file to HighWire.
As with the single-journal view, the primary use case for this view is to display information on rejected submissions. However, the view is not limited to displaying only those submissions that have received a reject decision. Publishers can use this view to create reports that are filtered to display only the papers required for the Impact Vizor RAT report. (This is to ensure that the view can be used for other reports Impact Vizor may develop in the future.)
For information on using Cross-Publication EAR reporting tools, see Cross-Publication Enterprise Analytics Reporting.
