Cross-Publication Enterprise Analytics Reporting

Cross-Publication Enterprise Analytics Reporting (Cross-Publication EAR) is an additional reporting tool available in the system. All the functions of single-publication EAR can be used to run reports against a unified database for some or all publications in a Business Publisher Group. Cross-Publication EAR can be used to create custom reports or to run standard reports available from the Cross-Publication EAR menu. Editor roles with permission to use the tool see a Cross-Publication Enterprise Analytics Reporting link on the Reports menu.

For publications using production tracking, Editors with permission to use the tool also see the Cross-Publication Enterprise Analytics Reporting link in the Reports section of the Production Tasks menu. Editors with access to the Enterprise View tab for production see the link in the Reports section of the Enterprise View menu.

The Cross-Publication EAR menu may include three sections.

  1. My Reports: This section contains reports the user has created and saved but not shared. This section appears when the user has saved reports.
  2. Shared Reports: This section contains reports the user has created and shared. It also contains reports created and shared by other users. This section appears when the user has access to shared reports.
  3. Standard Reports: This section contains standard reports created by Aries. The section may contain two or three folders: Cross-Publication Editorial Reports, Cross-Publication Production Tracking Reports, and Third Party Exports (for sending data to the related organization). For information on third-party reports, see related articles in Additional Tools and Resources.

The left column of the Cross-Publication EAR menu page may contain four links and information related to unified database.

  1. Create Report: Opens the report configuration tool, enabling a user to create a report based on any View or Table.
  2. Alert box: Status information about publication data updates to the unified database may appear.
  3. Get more help about Cross-Publication Views and their contents: Opens the Database Content Help pop-up window that provides descriptions of Views and the fields in them. •
  4. View Update Status: Select a publication group from the drop-down list and click this link to open a pop-up window that shows times of the latest data update from each publication in the publication group. (Number of groups in the drop-down list depends on publication configuration and role permission.)
  5. Publication Group Details: Select a publication group from the drop-down list and click this link to open a pop-up window that lists all the publications in the group. (Number of groups in the drop-down list depends on publication configuration and role permission.)

Run a report from the menu page

Report names in the menu appear as links. Links open the report page to display results. Hovering over a link without clicking displays icons for report tools available for use with that report.

  1. Select a Publication Group in the drop-down menu in the left column of the page. This identifies the publications to be included in the report results.
  2. Click a report name link to run the report.

The report page displays results based on the default criteria (most recently saved criteria). The number of returned rows is limited to 10,000 across all publications in the selected Publication Group.

Recommendation: Refine criteria to limit the results to fewer than 10,000 to ensure that a complete results set is returned.
