Publications may use a variety of features to enable Editors to search for and select Reviewers. The process for identifying and selecting Reviewers begins on the Reviewer Selection Summary page. Editors/editorial staff access this page using the submission's Invite Reviewers link.
The page features access to the Reviewer Search tool. See Configure Reviewer Search.
The page also includes information on Review Settings (how many reviews are required for the submission, the timing for automatically uninviting Reviewers who do not respond to an invitation, and the timing for automatically unassigning Reviewers who do not complete a review). Editors may edit the settings. See Configure Reviewer Parameters.
The Selected Reviewers section lists Reviewers who have been assigned/invited (and the status of the invitation). Alternate Reviewers also appear in the list if they are linked to invited/assigned Reviewers; the linked alternate Reviewer appears below the invited/assigned Reviewer. For each invited/assigned Reviewer, a link appears to enable the Editor to uninvite or unassign the Reviewer. For Reviewers who have declined an invitation, a link appears to the given reason for declining. The Proposed Reviewers section lists Reviewers who have been identified as potential Reviewers but not yet assigned or invited. See Allow Editors to Invite, Assign, and Propose Reviewers.
The page's left column displays links to submission information: Reviews and Comments, Manuscript Details, History, Classification, View Submission, and Author's Reviewer Preferences (if any). It also displays Action links: Submit Editor's Decision and Comments, Send Email, Register and Select New Reviewer (if permitted), Request Unregistered Reviewer, and Search Similar Articles in MEDLINE (if enabled). Links also enable the user to set preferences related to Suggest Reviewer search (if permitted) and Reviewer search results display.
