WeChat Gateway for Author Notifications (Editor Use)
Authors may receive notifications via WeChat by linking their WeChat account to their user record in the publication's EM site. A WeChat Channel ID (CID) binds the two accounts.
Editors with permission may unlink a user's WeChat account and publication user record on the user's behalf.
- Use Search People to find the user record.
- Open the Search People – Update Information page.
- Go to the Linked Accounts section of the page and click Unlink next to WeChat Notification Channel.
- Click the Submit button to save changes.
System treatment of CIDs
WeChat CIDs are handled by the system as follows when two user records are merged:
- If both records have matching CIDs or the inactivated record has no CID, no action is required.
- If the CIDs do not match, the surviving account's CID is retained, and the CID of the inactivated record is removed. The system sends a notification to the WeChat Gateway to remove the CID.
When a user record with a WeChat CID is inactivated or anonymized, the system sends a notification to the WeChat Gateway to remove the CID.
WeChat CIDs are handled as follows for People-Sharing (Inter-Journal Resource Sharing) Groups:
- A CID does not propagate across publications in a People-Sharing Group. CIDs identify unique one-to-one (Author-to-Publication) relationships. A user must link to each publication separately.
- When a user record is inactivated or anonymized on a publication that is part of a People-Sharing Group, the system checks for a CID associated with the user on each publication. For each CID, the system sends a notification to the WeChat Gateway to remove the CID.
For more information about People-Sharing Groups, see Configure Group User Inactivation and Merging Policies (IJRS).
