Using Enterprise View

Enterprise View (EV) enables production staff to manage the production process across multiple publications from a single location. Users with Editor or Publisher roles can view and access tasks across multiple publication sites. Sites must belong to the same Business Publisher.

Enterprise View Menu

Editor and Publisher users (with permission) may access this menu by clicking the Enterprise View tab.

Sections in the center menu may be set as expanded or collapsed and will retain the chosen state. These sections may include:

Enterprise View To-Do List

These folders display any submissions with tasks assigned to the logged-in user across all publications that have been configured for the user to access.

Enterprise View Overview

These folders display submissions across all publications that have been configured for the logged-in user to access.

Enterprise View Scheduling

This section appears if the user role has permission to manage schedule groups.

Reports

A link allows users with permission to access Cross-Publication Enterprise Analytics Reports. See Cross-Publication Enterprise Analytics Reporting.

EV folders

On the home publication site (the site where the user is currently logged in), tasks listed in folders display the same Action links as those displayed in the folder of the same name on the Production Tasks tab.

Submissions on other sites display one link in the Action column: Go to Task. This link takes the user to the corresponding folder on the publication site where the task is assigned (i.e., the target site). The user is automatically logged in to the target site, where the task’s Action column contains all available Action links.

Tasks are carried out just as in single-publication production tracking.

User configuration

Users with Editor and Publisher roles working in EV must designate the publications that they will access from EV folders. These are the same publications as those available using the “Go to Publication” shortcut. For details, see “Go to Publication” Shortcut for Cross-Publication Activity.

Search submissions in Enterprise View

A Search Submissions link provides access to the EV submissions search functionality. Users with corresponding RoleManager permission see the link in the left sidebar on the EV tab and via the main navigation.

Saved searches appear in an expandable list below the search link in the left sidebar.

How EV search works

EV cross-publication searches are executed against the Publisher's UDB, pulling from all publications the user is authorized to access (according to cross-publication login configuration). Results are returned from those publications (limited by other permissions and business rules, such as when an Editor has been blocked from a submission).

The tool is a modified version of single-publication search. Most criteria/selector combinations display a text box in the Value column, where the user must enter the search term. A Publication Code criterion is added to EV search and presents a drop-down list of codes for all publications the user is authorized to access.

EV search definitions may be saved and displayed on a user's EV Menu. These saved search definitions are also available in the Search Definition drop-down list on the search page. (This drop-down list displays only the user's EV search definitions; a user's single-publication search definitions do not appear.)

The search results grid includes a Publication Code column to indicate the site where the submission was made.

Search results can be filtered by publication code, using the drop-down list above the results grid.

For submissions on the home site, the Action column displays all available Action links. For submissions on other sites, the Action column display a Go To Submission link. Clicking the link takes a user to the submission on the target publication site, where all authorized actions can be taken.
