Publisher Menus

Items displayed on menus depend on features used by the publication and permissions granted to the Publisher role. The Publisher role may have access to up to three menu tabs: Main Menu, Production Tasks, and Enterprise View.

Note: The second tab may appear just as Tasks. Users who see this label have permissions to use the Task Manager feature, which enables them to perform tasks on submissions before they have moved into production. These users may not see folders listed below that relate to production.

Main Menu tab

The Main Menu may include the following sections and folders:

Search

A Search Submissions link appears in this section (if Publisher role has the RoleManager permission, Search Submissions). For information about searching, see Search Functions.

Accepted Submissions

Link in this section provides access to the Accepted Submissions folder (if Publisher role has the RoleManager permission, View All Accepted Submissions). Submissions in this folder have a Final Disposition of "Accept" or "Accepted on Submission."

Linked Submission Groups

Links appear to two folders: Active Linked Submission Groups and Inactive Linked Submission Groups (if Publisher role has the RoleManager permission, View Linked Submission Groups). These folders contain the Linked Submission Groups defined by the publication. For details, see Linked Submissions.

To-Do List

Links in this section provide access to folders containing submissions that require attention after editing by the user. For details, see Publisher Edits Submission.

Incomplete Submissions contains PDF build failures and submissions that the user started to edit, but did not finish by building the PDF. This folder is suppressed if there are no incomplete submissions.

Submissions Needing Approval contains submissions for which the user has rebuilt the PDF but has not taken further action. The user must view and approve the PDF. This folder is suppressed if there are no submissions that require approval.

Production Tasks tab

The Production Tasks tab may include the following sections and folders:

Search

A Search Submissions link appears in this section (if Publisher role has the RoleManager permission, Search Submissions). For information about searching, see Search Functions.

To-Do List

Links in this section provide access to folders containing submissions that require attention by the user. Links may include:

Incomplete Submissions and Submissions Needing Approval folders display here under the same conditions as on the Main Menu tab.

Submission Tasks Assigned to Me contains all submission production tasks assigned to the user. (Publisher role must have the permission Receive Production Task.) For details, see Access and Submit Task.

Schedule Group Tasks Assigned to Me contains all Schedule Group production tasks assigned to the user. (Publisher role must have the permission Receive Production Task.)

At-Risk Submissions contains submissions that are at risk of not meeting target publication dates, because key production tasks are behind schedule (i.e., a task has not been started or completed by the scheduled date). (Publisher role must have the permission View At-Risk Submissions.)

Overview

Links may include:

Production Initiated – No Tasks Assigned contains all submissions in production for which there are no assigned tasks. Either tasks have not yet been assigned or all tasks have been cancelled, but the submission is still actively in production. (Publisher role must have the permission Initiate Production Manually.)

Submission Tasks I Have Assigned contains all submission production tasks assigned by the user. (Publisher role must have the permission Assign Submission Production Task.) 

Schedule Group Tasks I Have Assigned contains all Schedule Group production tasks assigned by the user. (Publisher role must have the permission Assign Schedule Group Production Task.)

View All Submissions in Production contains all submissions currently in production, either assigned to a Schedule Group or for which at least one task has been assigned. (Publisher role must have the permission View All Submissions in Production.)

View All Production Tasks with Authors contains all submissions with a production task currently assigned to an Author. (Publisher role must have the permission View All Submissions in Production.)

Production Status Grid provides access to a grid view of submissions in production and their related tasks. (Publisher role must have the permission View Production Status Grid.)

Scheduling

This section appears if the Publisher role has the permission Manage Schedule Groups. For details, see Manage Schedule Groups.

Linked Submission Groups

Active Linked Submission Groups and Inactive Linked Submission Groups display here under the same conditions as on the Main Menu tab.

Completed

View All Submissions with Production Completed contains all submissions for which production has been completed. (Publisher role must have the permission View All Submissions in Production.)

Reports

This section appears if the Publisher role has one or more reporting permissions. For details, see Production Task Reports.

Enterprise View tab

Enterprise View enables users to manage tasks and production processes across multiple publications from a single location. For details see Using Enterprise View.

Additional features

Fees and Payments

This section appears on the Main Menu if the publication has enabled Commerce Manager and the Publisher role has related permissions. For details, see Commerce Manager.

Conference Submissions

This section appears on the Main Menu if the publication has enabled Conference Submissions and the Publisher role has related permissions. The Search/Manage Conference Submissions link accesses a search tool that allows users to search for and extract conference submission data.

Legacy Manuscripts

This section appears on the Main Menu if the publication has imported legacy manuscripts from a prior submission tracking system into EM and the Publisher role has related permissions. For details, see Legacy System Information.
