Permissions for Editor Activities (RoleManager)

Enabling permissions in RoleManager allows Editors to guide submissions through the editorial/review workflow, as well as engaging in other activities, such as using search tools and sending system email. Additional permissions appear on the Editor RoleManager page when other features are enabled for the publication.

New Submissions

Receive New and Revised Submissions

  • Perform Technical Check
  • Submit Early Decision on New Submissions

Allows the Editor role to receive and assign new submissions. Depending on editorial workflow configuration, this permission also allows the Editor role to receive and assign revised submissions. Two sub-permissions affect the allowed handling of new submissions.

Editor Assignment

Receive Assignments in "New Assignments" Folder

Allows the Editor role to receive assignments. A sub-permission must be chosen to define how assignments are made: with or without an invitation. See Options for Editor Assignment
